I went to the frozen river and watched my dogs find dead things showing up in the spring melt.

As usual it was a cold evening and the streets were relatively quiet. Dinnertime quiet. Most people were at home with their families fixing something on the stove top.

20 inches of snow. 20 degrees above. The dogs were thrilled. At zero they tend to last about 5 minutes outside; better with booties if you can keep them on their feet and not lose them in the deep snow.
